Amazon has started its quick-delivery service called Amazon Now in Visakhapatnam, fulfilling orders through nine stores of More Retail Limited.
Growth And Sales
Srikant Sree Ram, Director of Everyday Essentials at Amazon India, said orders for the new service are six to seven times higher than the earlier Amazon Fresh service. Forty percent of customers return to buy again within four to six weeks. The service crossed $1 billion in annual gross sales across India, with orders doubling every quarter since its launch. Amazon plans to expand the service to 100 cities by Diwali. In Andhra Pradesh, the service is currently active in 20 cities, including Vijayawada, Guntur, Nellore, Tirupati, Kurnool, Kadapa, Anantapur, and Rajahmundry.
Buying Trends And Offers
Non-grocery items make up about 40% of products in every order. Customer demand is also moving towards healthier choices and clean labels, with dry fruit and nut sales rising 60% and almond sales nearly tripling. Daily order volumes reach their highest point around 9 p.m. Prime members pay no delivery fee on orders above ₹99, while other customers get free delivery on orders above ₹149. The company does not charge any convenience or surge fees. Amazon also works with more than 18,000 farmers nationwide for its fruit and vegetable supply chain, which includes collection centres in Andhra Pradesh.
Upcoming Festival
More than 25,000 sellers from Andhra Pradesh sell on Amazon, contributing to a total of over 20 lakh sellers across India. The Amazon Great Indian Festival starts on October 8 with deals open to all customers from day one. State Bank of India card holders will receive a 10% instant discount, and Amazon Now will be included in the sale event.
Context
Quick-commerce services have grown rapidly across Indian cities as urban shoppers increasingly prefer fast home delivery of groceries and daily essentials over traditional store visits. Amazon continues to expand its local retail partnerships and supply chains to compete directly with other fast-delivery apps operating in the country.
