Simple Energy has announced the discontinuation of its OneS electric scooter, shifting its focus to the newly launched Wave family. The Wave range, introduced last month, starts at Rs 1.10 lakh and is positioned as a purpose‑built model for the same buyer segment that the OneS targeted. In a company statement, Simple Energy said families looking for a practical, reliable everyday scooter would find the Wave meets their needs more completely, and that market research confirmed customers in this price band would naturally move to the Wave. The OneS, launched earlier this year as part of the Simple One Gen 2 lineup, was priced at Rs 1.40 lakh and featured a 6.4 kW motor delivering 52 Nm of torque, a 3.7 kWh battery and a claimed 190 km IDC range. It was the most affordable model in the Simple portfolio, sitting below the One and Ultra variants. Existing OneS owners will continue to receive full service, warranty and spare‑parts support across Simple Energy’s network. The Wave family expands the offering with six variants, ranging from the base Wave S 2.2 at Rs 1.10 lakh to the top‑end Wave + at Rs 1.90 lakh, each providing a broader set of battery capacities and features. By consolidating its lineup around the Wave, Simple Energy aims to streamline engineering, manufacturing and retail efforts to deliver greater value to customers.

Context

The shift reflects a common strategy in the EV market where manufacturers retire older models to concentrate resources on newer platforms that better match consumer demand and cost efficiency.
