Visit Details

A five-member delegation from Sri Lanka visited the CM Shri school in Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar to examine the capital’s new technology-enabled classrooms and student‑centred facilities. The group, led by Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna General Secretary Tilvin Silva, toured smart classrooms, digital libraries, ICT labs, dedicated care rooms for children with special needs and multi‑sectoral skill labs. The school’s ICT labs showcase coding and robotics modules for grade‑six students. They also received an overview of the ‘Science of Living’ programme and other initiatives that aim to make learning more interactive and tech‑driven. The delegation’s five members included other senior officials besides Silva.

Reactions

Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood met the visitors, noting their keen interest in the changes taking place in the city’s education system. Sood said the delegation wanted the Delhi government to share details of these efforts with the Sri Lankan government. He added that the visit is part of the delegation’s wider tour of India to study political and social issues. The trip comes as Sri Lanka works on drafting a new education policy, prompting officials to seek examples from Indian states.

Context

The visit reflects a growing trend of South Asian countries exchanging ideas on school reforms, especially around digital learning tools and inclusive facilities for special‑needs students. Such exchanges help align regional education standards and foster collaborative research.
