Sales Breakdown
Total sales reached 2,36,013 units when including light commercial vehicles, exports, and supplies to other manufacturers, showing 24.44 percent growth from a year earlier. Utility vehicles reached 78,911 units, up about 62.05 percent from 48,695 units, driven by models like the Brezza, Ertiga, and Grand Vitara. Passenger cars across mini, compact, and midsize categories hit 91,887 units, a 24.02 percent rise. Eeco van sales grew 10.01 percent to 11,040 units, while exports rose 4.77 percent to 44,219 units and Super Carry light commercial vehicle sales increased 18.09 percent to 3,414 units. However, supplies to Toyota dropped 44.32 percent to 6,542 units, partly due to the upcoming Glanza facelift.
Quarterly Numbers
For the July to September quarter, total sales reached 6,96,654 units, up 26.46 percent year-on-year. Domestic passenger vehicle volumes grew 38.11 percent to 5,55,012 units for the quarter. For the broader April to September period, total sales crossed 13.79 lakh units, representing 27.87 percent growth.
Market Impact
Despite the sales growth, Maruti Suzuki shares fell more than 5 percent during October 1 trading to touch an intraday low of Rs 11,305. This drop happened during a wider sell-off in auto stocks that pushed the Nifty Auto index down about 3.7 percent.
Context
Stock prices in the automotive sector often move based on overall market trends and investor sentiment rather than following individual company sales figures alone. Broader economic factors and sectoral indexes frequently create temporary price drops even when a company reports strong monthly vehicle deliveries.
