Quarterly Record
The September performance helped the company close its highest-ever quarter, with combined domestic and international sales crossing the two lakh mark to reach 2,01,723 units between July and September 2026. This is a 39.70 percent jump from 1,44,397 units in the same quarter last year. Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, noted that the Punch emerged as India's highest-selling SUV during the quarter and credited strong customer response across the lineup for the record numbers.
Green Powertrains
Electric vehicle sales reached 15,384 units in September, up 67.38 percent from 9,191 units a year earlier. EVs made up about 21.91 percent of total monthly passenger vehicle volumes, compared to 15.09 percent previously. For the entire quarter, EV volumes hit a record 47,150 units, growing 89.70 percent over the previous year and accounting for roughly 23 percent of the company's portfolio. CNG vehicles also delivered their highest-together quarterly sales, taking up 28 percent of total volumes. Combined, electric and CNG models made up 51 percent of quarterly sales, meaning more than half of the company's buyers chose green fuel options.
Context

Growing adoption of electric and CNG vehicles reflects a broader industry shift toward cleaner fuel options driven by rising environmental awareness and expanding model choices.
