Features
The new kit comes with a seven-inch screen, physical buttons, and built-in satellite navigation. It supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with Bluetooth and digital radio. People can even watch YouTube videos on the screen when the car is parked. It also has a special 'Scenic Roads' function that suggests winding routes for fun drives.
Integration
Porsche states that the system fits smoothly into the car's existing design. Drivers can use the touch screen or steering wheel buttons to run it. Turn-by-turn directions and song names can also show up on the car's main instrument display.
Expanded List
While the company offered this system for older vintage models before, it has now expanded the list. The upgrade now covers the facelifted second and third generation Boxster and Cayman, the facelifted sixth generation 911, and the first phase of the seventh generation 911. Older versions of the system only fit older models like the first generation Cayenne and even older 911, Boxster, and Cayman cars.
Context
Retrofitting new tech in older cars helps owners enjoy modern smartphone apps and maps without needing to buy a brand new vehicle. Car makers often update parts for older models to keep their older cars useful and keep fans happy.
