Rajkot police have arrested a local vegetable vendor for printing fake currency notes at his residential house after learning the method through social media.

The Arrest And Seizure

Joint teams from the Rajkot SOG and crime branch raided a house in the Mandadungar area and caught Kishan Solanki red-handed. Police recovered 216 fake notes of 100 rupees and 3 fake notes of 500 rupees. Officers also seized a CPU, a monitor, two printers, a laminator heater machine, butter paper, and paper printed with 100-rupee notes, seizing a total of 65,500 rupees worth of goods. Rajkot DCP Crime Jagdish Bangarwa confirmed the details of the raid.

Motive And Training

During initial questioning, Kishan stated that he ran a vegetable pushcart and faced rising debts due to low earnings. While watching Instagram reels, he saw a video about printing fake 100 and 500-rupee notes. He contacted the account holder and learned the entire currency-printing process through Telegram chats. He gave the trainer 10,000 rupees in fake notes and received a 3,000-rupee payment in return. Police are now searching for this mastermind.

Circulation And Remand

Instead of selling notes in bulk, the accused spent them himself in the retail market. Over the past four to five months, he passed about 40 fake 100-rupee notes at different places, including recent Janmashtami fair purchases where small traders did not check the notes closely. A court has granted a three-day police remand for the accused to check the total amount printed and find other members of the network.

Context

Fake currency rackets often target crowded public events like local fairs because fast-moving transactions make it easy to pass poorly checked notes. Such cases highlight how easy access to digital platforms and online tutorials can lead people facing financial distress to take up illegal activities.
