American Depositary Receipts of Infosys and Wipro saw sharp gains in pre-market trade on Thursday following a strong quarterly performance and upbeat outlook from global consulting firm Accenture. Infosys ADRs rose eight percent to $11.60, while Wipro ADRs jumped ten percent to $1.82 on the New York Stock Exchange. Both Indian technology companies had recently suffered losses and fallen to six-year lows amid market pressure. Accenture's positive numbers helped ease investor worries about global technology spending and improved market sentiment ahead of the upcoming domestic earnings season.

Accenture Earnings

For the fiscal fourth quarter, Accenture reported total revenue of $18.7 billion, which was higher than the $18.04 billion expected by analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. The Dublin-based firm posted annual revenue of $74.2 billion, marking an increase of $4.5 billion or six percent in US dollars. Quarterly consulting revenue reached $9.28 billion, while revenue from the communications, media and technology segment grew eleven percent to $3.26 billion. Total bookings for the quarter hit $22.2 billion, beating the roughly $20 billion estimated by analysts. During the same period, Accenture announced separate deals with Google Cloud, Anthropic, and Amazon Web Services.

Future Outlook

For fiscal 2027, Accenture expects local currency revenue growth between three and six percent. The firm forecasts GAAP diluted earnings per share of $14.39 to $14.81, compared to an average analyst estimate of $14.67. Accenture Chair and CEO Julie Sweet noted that the company exceeded its revenue guidance range, grew adjusted earnings per share by eight percent, returned a record $11.5 billion to shareholders, and reached a high of 141 quarterly client bookings worth $100 million or more.

Context

American Depositary Receipts are certificates issued by US banks that allow foreign companies to trade shares on US stock exchanges. Indian IT firms often track global consulting majors like Accenture as an early indicator of international demand for technology services. Positive global tech earnings frequently lift sentiment for domestic exporters ahead of their own quarterly financial results.
