Engine And Design
The new bike uses the same 420cc parallel-twin engine platform as the F 450 GS adventure model, producing 48 horsepower at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. According to Rushlane, the engine features dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder, paired with a six-speed gearbox, and delivers a claimed mileage of 26.3 kmpl with a 14-litre fuel tank. While output figures match the GS, BMW tuned the motor so that 80 percent of peak torque is available from 3,000 rpm. The machine features an aggressive naked design with angular tank extensions, a stepped split seat, an LED headlight with bracket-shaped DRLs, a tapered aluminium handlebar, and a ready-to-ride weight of 175 kilograms, which is 3 kg less than the GS.
Hardware And Variants
The chassis uses a tubular steel frame with the engine acting as a stressed member, alongside a 43mm KYB upside-down front fork, a KYB rear monoshock, and an aluminium double-sided swingarm. Braking is managed by a 310mm front disc with a Brembo four-piston monobloc caliper and a 240mm rear disc on 17-inch cast aluminium wheels. The standard seat height is 790mm, with 775mm low and 810mm high seats available as accessories. Buyers can choose from four variants including Base, Exclusive, M Sport, and M Sport with Innovation Package. The base model in Cosmic Black includes a 6.5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth, navigation, and music control, plus heated grips, USB-C charging, all-LED lighting, and Rain, Road, and Dynamic riding modes. The Exclusive adds a bidirectional quickshifter and sport suspension with adjustable damping. M Sport variants add an adjustable Dynamic Pro ride mode and a special TFT layout showing lean angle and lap times, while the top M Sport with Innovation Package includes the Easy Ride Clutch system.
Context
BMW Motorrad often shares engine and chassis platforms across multiple bike styles to lower manufacturing costs while offering diverse riding experiences. The street-naked category focuses on upright ergonomics and agile handling for city use, contrasting with the long-distance focus of adventure motorcycles.
