The Ministry of Railways says train numbers 27421 (Varanasi‑New Delhi) and 27422 (New Delhi‑Varanasi) will begin commercial runs on Monday, 2 Nov 2026. Train 27421 will run daily except Friday, while 27422 will run daily except Saturday. Although the Vande Bharat design can reach 180 kmph, the service on this route will be limited to 130‑160 kmph.
Schedule
The train will stop at four stations on its journey: Prayagraj, Kanpur Central, Aligarh and Ghaziabad.
Coaches and Classes
Sixteen coaches will provide three classes – Third AC, Second AC and First AC. Ticket prices are Rs 1,915 for Third AC (3A), Rs 2,470 for Second AC (2A) and Rs 3,030 for First AC (1A).
Booking
Passengers can book online through the IRCTC website, the Rail Connect app or the RailOne app. Offline tickets are available at Passenger Reservation System counters at railway stations.
Context
The Northern Railway zone will operate and maintain the train, expanding semi‑high‑speed options on a busy corridor. The new service follows the earlier Vande Bharat Express launches and aims to offer faster, more comfortable travel between two major northern cities.
