Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived in Gorakhpur on Saturday evening for a three-day visit, during which he will launch and lay foundation stones for several development projects. Upon reaching Gorakhpur at around 6:30 PM, he visited the Gorakhnath temple to worship Guru Gorakhnath and sought blessings at the tomb of Mahant Avaidyanath. He also held an informal meeting with officials to review development works, directing them to ensure proper arrangements for the PET examination scheduled for Sunday.
Project Launches And Events
On Sunday morning, the Chief Minister will travel to Chauri Chaura to inaugurate a railway overbridge built on the Gorakhpur-Deoria railway section at the Bhopa Bazar railway crossing, addressing a public meeting there. Following this, he will return to Gorakhnath temple before heading out at 4 PM to inaugurate the Godhoiya nala and STP project, alongside laying the foundation stone for the second phase of work on the drain. He also met with officials of the Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad to review preparations for its foundation day celebrations starting on December 4.
Traffic Diversions
According to Dainik Jagran, the traffic police have implemented special diversions from October 31 until the end of the programme due to a scheduled event at the Chhapara railway overbridge Bichhia route. Two-wheelers are exempted, but all three-wheelers, four-wheelers, and heavy vehicles face restrictions and must use designated alternate routes. Traffic SP Amit Srivastava stated that these measures aim to ensure smooth and safe movement for the public. Heavy buses and oil tankers moving from Mohaddipur intersection towards Kauabag cannot use the overbridge and must instead travel via University intersection, Roadways tri-section, and Gorakhnath overbridge.
Context
Chief Minister visits and major local events frequently require temporary traffic management adjustments in growing urban centres to manage large public gatherings safely. Infrastructure projects like railway overbridges and sanitation works such as sewage treatment plants are common components of regional development initiatives aimed at improving daily commute and civic amenities.
