An orange rain alert has been issued for six districts in Telangana as Cyclone Murasu moves toward the Andhra Pradesh coast on Tuesday. The orange alert covers Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool and Wanaparthy, signalling heavy to very heavy rainfall. A yellow alert, meaning heavy rain, has been announced for five areas: Hyderabad, Jangaon, Yadadri‑Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy and Medchal‑Malkajgiri. The India Meteorological Department says Hyderabad and nearby locations will experience partly cloudy skies over the next 24 hours. Light to moderate showers, occasional thunderstorms and gusty winds are likely in parts of the city. Expected maximum temperature is about 34 °C while the night low should hover near 24 °C. Residents in the warned districts are urged to stay alert, keep windows closed during strong gusts and follow any safety instructions from local authorities. ## Context These alerts are part of the IMD’s standard grading system that classifies weather threats from green (no concern) to red (extreme danger). Orange and yellow levels prompt people to prepare for possible flooding and wind damage, especially in low‑lying or coastal zones.
