A flash mob and mime act staged by students of LEAD College of Management drew crowds at Palakkad’s Civil Station on Saturday, marking the opening of Vigilance Awareness Week.
What Happened
The performance was part of a joint effort by the Victims Information Sensitisation Welfare and Assistance Society (VISWAS) and the Vigilance and Anti‑Corruption Bureau, Palakkad. Participants formed a line of students who suddenly broke into coordinated dance moves, followed by a short mime piece that illustrated the harms of bribery and the value of citizen watchfulness. Officials from both organising bodies addressed the audience, emphasizing that ordinary people can help curb corruption by staying alert and reporting misconduct. Speakers included VISWAS secretary‑general P. Premnath, vice‑president Rakhi, secretary M. Devadasan, child‑welfare committee member Deepa Jayaprakash and Vigilance sub‑inspector Baiju. Faculty members Shruthi and Sangeetha from the college were also present to support the students.
Context
Vigilance Awareness Week is an annual campaign aimed at educating the public about corrupt practices and encouraging reporting mechanisms. VISWAS, a local NGO, works to inform victims of fraud, provide counselling and assist in legal processes, while the bureau handles investigations and enforcement across Kerala.
