The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay has opened registrations for the Common Entrance Examination for Design 2027 and the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design 2027 starting October 1.
Important Dates
Students can submit their applications without a late fee until October 31, while forms with a late fee are accepted until November 6, 2026. Both exams will take place on January 17, 2027, from 9 am to 12 noon, following the release of admit cards on January 5 and draft answer keys on January 21.
Eligibility and Admission
CEED serves candidates seeking postgraduate design courses and PhD programs who hold a qualifying graduate degree or a five-year Government Diploma in Art without any age limit. UCEED admits students to four-year Bachelor of Design programs, allowing candidates from Science, Commerce, and Arts streams who took their Class 12 exams in 2026 or 2027 to attempt the test up to two times in consecutive years.
Context
Design entrance tests in India have grown increasingly competitive as more top engineering and technology institutes open dedicated spaces for creative and industrial design studies. Clearing these national tests provides a gateway to premier campuses, though students must still clear each institute's individual application process to secure final admission.
