Representative image · PexelsIndian benchmark indices recorded sharp losses during a truncated trading week, with the Nifty 50 falling by 3.10% and the Sensex dropping nearly 2,000 points. Almost all major sectoral indices saw profit-booking, led by Consumer stocks which lost 6.15% and Auto stocks which declined by 5.85%. Markets faced continuous selling pressure at higher levels, forming a long bearish candle on weekly charts and lower highs and lows on intraday charts.
Market Outlook
Vaishali Parekh, Vice President of Technical Research at Prabhudas Lilladher, noted that market sentiment has turned negative following a four-session crash. The Nifty 50 index touched near the 22,180 zone before closing just above the 22,400 zone amid high volatility. Parekh stated that the index holds crucial support near the 22,200 level and a major support level near 21,800, which must hold to prevent heavier selling. A market revival requires the index to sustain above the 23,000 zone.
Stock Recommendations
For trading on Monday, Vaishali Parekh recommended three specific stock purchases. CG Power has a recommended buy price of ₹879, a target of ₹930, and a stop loss of ₹860. Graphite India is advised to be bought at ₹786 with a target of ₹825 and a stop loss of ₹770. Bectors Food is suggested for purchase at ₹213, featuring a target of ₹227 and a stop loss of ₹208.
Context
Stock market corrections and profit-booking episodes are common occurrences in equity trading cycles when indices face resistance at higher levels. Technical analysts regularly track key support zones to gauge potential trend reversals or the risk of further declines during volatile market phases.
