The eight-episode South Korean horror-comedy series Dead-End Job premiered worldwide on October 30, 2026, on Netflix, following its screening at the Busan International Film Festival. Directed by Kim Da Min, the show follows people trapped in debt who take up extremely high-paying assignments with the Spider Staffing Agency, also known as the Spyder Human Resource Center, where daily wages range from 50 to 200 times the minimum wage but shifts can be deadly.
The Plot Unfolds
Protagonist Byeon Hyeok Jun, played by Lee Jae Wook, takes these jobs to escape loan sharks and discovers the agency vanished his father, Byeon Min Su, twenty years ago. Hyeok Jun investigates alongside his younger sister Byeon Ji Yoon, played by Kim Min Ha, and a mysterious investigator named Eum Yeon Joo, played by Go Min Si. Their search leads them to Mr. S, played by Lee Hee Joon, the head of the agency who claims sacrificing workers is necessary to keep a supernatural gateway in check. Yeon Joo turns out to be a former Kyungil Textile union member displaced through time by forty years after encountering a portal during a factory crackdown.
The Climax And Ending
At an abandoned amusement park, Yeon Joo forces the portal open, unleashing otherworldly creatures before throwing Mr. S into it and disappearing herself. Hyeok Jun is pulled into the alternate dimension and finds his father trapped inside a bizarre television game show titled Challenge! A Father's Miracle. Ji Yoon helps pull her brother back, and the siblings seal the gateway. In the final moments, Hyeok Jun receives a pre-recorded message from Mr. S offering him the manager position at the agency, while Ji Yoon receives a job offer from Kyungil Group, the corporation secretly funding the agency, leaving Hyeok Jun's final choice unanswered as the show cuts to black.
