Shares opened at 1,465 rupees apiece compared to the previous close of 1,431 rupees on Friday of last week, and reached an intraday high of 1,475 rupees on November 2.
Financial Results
The financial results follow the company's stock market debut on October 28 when shares listed at 1,358 rupees apiece, marking a 21.36 percent premium over the initial public offering issue price of 1,119 rupees. Jio Platforms reported a 14 percent year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to 8,389 crore rupees for the September quarter. Growth was driven by strong subscriber additions, expansion in its digital services business, and a modest improvement in average revenue per user. Revenue from operations increased 11 percent year-on-year to 40,475 crore rupees from 36,332 crore rupees in the corresponding quarter last year. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, net profit grew eight percent from 7,765 crore rupees reported in the June quarter, while revenue registered a three percent increase.
Operational Performance
The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization rose 17 percent year-on-year during the quarter, supported by higher revenue, operating leverage, and improved margins. The margin expanded by 250 basis points to 54.1 percent. Average revenue per user edged up to 218.8 rupees in the second quarter, as promotional offers for fixed broadband customers partially offset the benefits of a favorable subscriber mix and increased data usage. Monthly per-user data consumption stood at 44.2 gigabytes, while overall data traffic increased 22 percent year-on-year during the September quarter. Monthly subscriber churn remained stable at 1.6 percent, and the company added 9.1 million net subscribers during the period. At the end of September, the fifth-generation subscriber base reached 300 million, marking an addition of 66 million users over the past 12 months. Fifth-generation users accounted for 56 percent of the total wireless data traffic.
