Realme's P4 series smartphones are being sold on Flipkart at prices up to ₹6,000 lower than in offline stores, sparking a complaint from the All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA). AIMRA founder‑chairman Kailash Lakhyani shared a price comparison with Navbharat Times Tech, showing that the Realme P4 Power 5G (12 GB RAM, 256 GB) costs ₹35,999 on Flipkart after a ₹1,000 cashback, versus ₹37,999 offline – a ₹2,000 gap. The Realme P4 5G (4 GB/128 GB) is ₹500 cheaper online, the Realme P4 [R] 5G (6 GB/128 GB) is ₹2,000 lower, and the P4x 5G (6 GB/128 GB) differs by ₹3,000. The steepest gap appears in the P4x 5G (8 GB/128 GB), priced at ₹23,999 on Flipkart but ₹29,999 offline, a ₹6,000 difference. AIMRA, which represents more than 150,000 retailers, says such mismatches erode consumer trust in brick‑and‑mortar shops and hurt physical retailers. The body also noted that Realme's core India business fell by more than 60 % year‑on‑year in October 2026, blaming the decline on the company's pricing and retail policies. Lakhyani pointed to rivals Vivo, Oppo and Motorola as brands that keep prices more uniform across channels. AIMRA has asked Realme to fix the pricing issue before the upcoming festive sales.
Context
Price gaps between online and offline channels can push shoppers to prefer e‑commerce, leaving physical stores with lower footfall and reduced confidence in the market.
