Seven fishermen who ventured into the sea near Juvvaladinne village in SPSR Nellore district on Monday morning were successfully rescued after their boat faced an engine breakdown amid rough seas. District officials confirmed that authorities had earlier advised fishermen not to head out due to Cyclone Murasu.
Rescue Operation
The boat had set out from Juvvaladinne Fishing Harbour, but the crew attempted to return after noticing sudden changes in sea conditions. The engine broke down on the way back, leaving the vessel stranded. Surveillance personnel spotted the boat and alerted the authorities. The boat's anchor snapped, and strong waves caused it to drift toward Patakadapalem village in Bogole mandal. Officials from the Fisheries Department and the Marine Police, along with local fishermen, launched a rescue effort and brought the boat safely to shore despite high waves.
Context
Adverse weather systems like cyclones frequently create dangerous conditions for small fishing vessels along coastal areas. Authorities regularly issue warnings to prevent loss of life at sea during such rough weather events.
