Actor Karthi joked that his brother Suriya and sister-in-law Jyotika's romantic vow renewal ceremony in Scotland caused domestic trouble for couples across the Tamil film industry, saying many people did not even get food at home because of the high standards set. Speaking at the trailer launch for Suriya's upcoming film Scene, with Jyotika in the audience, Karthi said the couple's love is over-the-top and put pressure on everyone else. Suriya and Jyotika renewed their wedding vows in September 2026 at a Scottish church to mark 20 years of marriage, having originally married in Chennai on September 11, 2006. Their children Diya and Dev joined the occasion, alongside Karthi and other family members, and the event was shared on social media. At the same event, Suriya credited Jyotika for guiding him and helping him do the right thing, calling her the best mother, friend, partner, and a strong actor.
