The wife of late filmmaker Sanjay Gupta has asked the public and media to stop sharing a viral video of their children at his funeral. Anuradha Lekhi Gupta released a statement after a video showed their daughter Dalai inside a car with her face covered, making a hand gesture toward photographers outside the funeral.
The Funeral Incident
Filmmaker Milap Zaveri shared the statement online. Anuradha explained that their children grew up away from media attention and felt upset by the sudden rush of cameras during their time of grief. She said the kids are adolescents who are struggling to accept the loss of their father and asked people to excuse their behavior. She also appealed to everyone to delete the video footage to protect the young minds from lasting emotional hurt.
Cause Of Death
Sanjay Gupta died on October 30, 2026, after suffering a head injury from an accidental fall at his home in Versova, Mumbai. His last rites took place the next day. Anuradha thanked friends, family, fans, and media members for their support and condolences during this difficult time.
Context
When public figures pass away, grieving families often face heavy media attention that can clash with their need for personal space. Incidents like this highlight the tense relationship between media presence at high-profile events and the privacy rights of grieving families.
