TVS Motor Company recorded total sales of 6,72,790 units in September 2026, marking a 24.35 percent year-on-year growth. Sales also went up by 9.12 percent compared to August, driven largely by the domestic market. Both two-wheelers and three-wheelers posted positive numbers, while electric scooters and exports turned in some of the strongest performances for the company.

Two-Wheeler Growth

Total two-wheeler sales reached 6,45,955 units in September, up 23.29 percent from the previous year. Domestic sales stood at 4,82,073 units with a 16.65 percent increase, while exports surged 48.12 percent to reach 1,63,882 units. Overseas markets now account for just over a quarter of the company's two-wheeler volumes. TVS currently reports combined two-wheeler figures rather than separate totals for motorcycles, scooters, and mopeds.

Electric and Three-Wheeler Surge

Electric scooter sales, covering models like the iQube and Orbiter, more than doubled with a 110.45 percent jump to 65,799 units in September. Electric models now make up 10.19 percent of TVS two-wheeler sales, up from about six percent in the same month last year. Three-wheeler sales also grew 56.55 percent to 26,835 units, with exports making up nearly 63 percent of that monthly volume.

Quarterly Performance

For the July to September quarter, total two-wheeler sales reached 18,40,530 units, registering a 26.63 percent annual increase. Electric scooter sales for the quarter rose 132.71 percent to 1,86,186 units, outpacing the growth of the overall two-wheeler segment. Including three-wheelers, total quarterly international business grew 34.82 percent to 5,39,416 units.

Context

Automobile manufacturers in India closely track monthly dispatch numbers to gauge consumer demand across urban and rural markets. The rapid expansion of electric two-wheelers reflects a broader industry shift toward battery-powered transport supported by new model launches and expanding charging networks.
