Indian stock market benchmark indices faced a sharp broad sell-off due to heavy foreign fund outflows, rising US bond yields, and conflict in the Middle East. Elevated crude oil prices and a weaker rupee added to the market pressure.
Market Indices
The Nifty 50 index closed at 22,421, marking a weekly loss for the eighth consecutive session. The BSE Sensex dropped nearly 2,000 points, while the Bank Nifty index finished at 54,450. Choice Broking Executive Director Sumeet Bagadia noted that the Nifty is nearing its near-term support level of 22,200. He added that the market could see a stronger recovery if the index closes above 22,600 for two consecutive sessions, while immediate support is placed between 21,100 and 22,200.
Stock Recommendations
For trading, Bagadia recommended three specific shares to buy. HDFC Life closed at ₹534 after showing signs of a structural bottom reversal near its swing low of ₹508.70. Cummins India closed around ₹4,860, staging a technical bounce from its downward-sloping channel. CG Power closed at ₹879, resuming its upward path after finding support near the ₹860 mark.
Context
Stock market indexes frequently experience periods of correction when external macroeconomic factors like foreign fund withdrawals and rising bond yields combine with geopolitical tensions. Technical support and resistance levels are price zones where buying or selling interest has historically been strong enough to halt or reverse trend movements.
