The Exhibition
Nearly 150 photographs showcasing India's rich wildlife and diverse landscapes are on display at Hawa Mahal on Beach Road in Visakhapatnam. Titled WildVizag 2.0, the exhibition opened on Saturday to mark World Wildlife Week 2026. Ravindra Dhama, the Divisional Forest Officer for Visakhapatnam, formally opened the event as the chief guest, while Bobbili MLA Swethakumar Rangarao Bobbili joined as a special guest.
Photographers and Displays
The showcase features works by 25 wildlife photographers whose pictures span four States. The images highlight tigers in their forest homes alongside other animals and natural scenes. The event also aims to build public awareness about the forests and wildlife found within Andhra Pradesh. A team from the Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve has set up a special stall at the venue to display rescue kits and field equipment. Visitors can talk to the reserve staff to learn about field protection work and how rescue tools are used.
Visitor Response and Timings
The gallery drew strong numbers on its opening day from both school and college students. About 85 students from Silver Oaks International School and 30 students from St. Joseph's Women's College visited the venue alongside members of the public. The exhibition continues on Sunday, October 4, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the same Beach Road location.
Context
Public photo exhibitions and active stalls by forest departments are common ways to celebrate World Wildlife Week and build local support for conservation. Direct interaction with field staff helps students and citizens understand the real tools and challenges involved in protecting natural habitats and wild animals.
