Telangana Housing Department officials must finish the sanctioning process for 2,000 Indiramma houses in every Assembly constituency within a week under the second phase of the scheme.
Implementation
First priority for these new houses goes to people who currently live in huts. State government guidelines for picking beneficiaries must be strictly followed, and officials need to work alongside public representatives and district in-charge ministers for the allocations. Telangana Housing Corporation Managing Director V.P. Gautham shared these directions during a meeting with project directors and deputy engineers in Hyderabad on Monday, noting that public demand is high following the success of the first phase.
Progress And Process
Around 3.3 lakh houses received sanctions under the first phase, and workers have already completed about two lakh of them. Monday's meeting also addressed ways to fix delays in clearing payments for beneficiaries. Officials must tell people about the government option to buy cement at lower prices and teach beneficiaries how to self-upload house photos online to speed up bill clearances.
Context
Housing schemes run by state governments in India aim to provide safe and permanent homes to low-income families currently living in temporary shelters like huts. These welfare programs typically rely on local district officials and elected representatives to verify beneficiaries and track construction progress through digital portals.
