Three software employees from Bengaluru died after strong sea waves pulled them into the water at a beach near Gokarna in Karnataka on Sunday. The victims were part of a sixteen-person group from Alorica Ecopace, a firm based in the Bellandur area of Bengaluru, which had gone to the coastal town for a weekend trip. The group arrived on Saturday evening and stayed at a private resort near the coastline.
The Rescue Attempt
Five workers from the office group walked into the sea at Dubbanshashi Beach when high waves suddenly dragged them away from the dry land. Local fishermen and beach lifeguards rushed to help and managed to pull two colleagues, Nishanth DV and Mohammed Kasim, out of the sea alive. The two survivors received medical care at the Gokarna Primary Health Centre. However, rescue workers could not save the other three employees, whose bodies were later recovered from the water.
Context
Coastal beaches along Karnataka often experience dangerous undercurrents and sudden high waves that can easily pull swimmers off balance. Local authorities routinely advise tourists to exercise caution and avoid entering rough sea waters during trips to coastal destinations.
