New Plans
Reliance Jio has introduced four new voice-only prepaid recharge plans to cater to users who need calls and text messages without mobile data. Following new guidelines from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, or TRAI, companies are rolling out plans without data. Airtel and Vodafone Idea already offer similar options. Jio's new packs are priced at Rs 147, Rs 177, Rs 196, and Rs 197, and are now available on the official website. The Rs 147 plan costs less than competitor entry prices and offers a 22-day validity. Airtel's voice-only plan starts at Rs 185 with 28 days of validity, while Vodafone Idea starts at Rs 179 for 28 days.
Plan Benefits and Long-Term Options
All four plans provide unlimited voice calls to any network across the country and a total of 300 free SMS messages, with zero internet data or OTT perks included. The Rs 177 plan comes with a 28-day validity, while the Rs 196 plan offers validity based on the calendar month. Jio also provides long-term options, including a Rs 448 plan with an 84-day validity and a Rs 1,748 plan valid for 336 days.
Context
These plans are designed to help feature phone users, senior citizens, secondary SIM holders, and people who rely on home or office Wi-Fi reduce their regular recharge expenses. By skipping unused internet data, customers can keep their SIM cards active at a lower cost.
