A 34-year-old woman named Payal Zambre Patil was found hanging on Monday in an apartment located in the Mukund Nagar area of Pune. Police have arrested her husband and registered a case against him and her in-laws for alleged abetment of suicide.

Family Allegations

No suicide note was discovered at the scene by authorities. However, the woman's maternal relatives claim she was murdered and that her body was hanged. Her family stated that the in-laws harassed her over demands for 10 tolas of gold and pressured her because she gave birth to a girl.

Police Action

Law enforcement officials are currently recording the statements of the victim's relatives. Police teams have been formed to track down the other accused individuals who remain to be caught.

Context

Domestic disputes involving demands for dowry and gold are a serious criminal issue under Indian law. Police typically register cases of abetment to suicide or dowry harassment when a newly married woman dies under suspicious circumstances within her matrimonial home.
