Veteran Bollywood actor Danny Denzongpa spent forty crore rupees in two thousand and nine to acquire Rhino Agencies in Assam and protect his brewery business from Vijay Mallya's United Breweries. Originally aiming to join the army, Danny shifted to music and acting after tensions with China in the nineteen sixties and completed an acting course at the Film and Television Institute of India. He became one of the first actors from Sikkim to achieve nationwide fame. Missing his home state, he began spending half of every year there, which led him to start Yuksom Breweries in nineteen eighty-seven, named after his home village.

Business Expansion

The company began as a small operation helping the local economy of Sikkim before growing into the third largest brewery in India and the biggest in the Northeast region. In two thousand and five, Danny expanded by setting up Denzong Breweries in Odisha, followed by the two thousand and nine acquisition of Rhino Agencies in Assam for forty crore rupees. At that time, United Breweries wanted to enter the Northeast market, and Danny acted to protect his business space from potential massive losses against the multi-million dollar company.

Personal Life

By the time he expanded his business, Danny noted that his breweries brought better financial returns than his acting career, calling them his real bread and butter. Celebrity Net Worth lists his current net worth at ten million dollars. Preferring comfort over stardom, he only shoots in Mumbai between November and January to avoid the harsh summer and refuses to work on Sundays. His film credits include playing the antagonist in the two thousand and ten Rajinikanth film Enthiran, along with roles in Baby, Naam Shabana, and his last appearance in the two thousand and twenty-two film Uunchai, directed by Sooraj Barjatya. He received the Padma Shri in two thousand and three and starred in earlier classics like Agneepath, Hum, and Krantiveer.

Context

Business owners often expand their market reach through strategic acquisitions to block larger corporate competitors from entering regional territories. Film actors frequently invest in diverse business ventures outside the entertainment industry to secure stable, long-term financial returns. Regional breweries in India often start as local economic initiatives before scaling into major national operations.
