Polish authorities handled bomb threats Tuesday involving two flights heading to Warsaw, but both planes landed safely and no explosives were found. The warnings targeted an SAS Scandinavian Airlines flight coming from Copenhagen and a LOT Polish Airlines flight flying from London Heathrow Airport.

Flight Diversions And Checks

The Scandinavian Airlines plane touched down at Warsaw Chopin Airport and underwent a security check that found no explosive devices. The airport closed one landing strip but kept operating, according to an airport spokesman. The LOT flight was diverted instead to Warsaw Modlin Airport, the capital's other airport. Authorities temporarily closed Modlin airport after the alert came in. The Boeing 737 MAX plane landed safely without incident. Passengers were evacuated and security teams searched the aircraft, but nothing was found. Modlin airport spokesman Adam Szablowski told AFP that the facility has since reopened and is operating normally.

Context

False bomb threats against commercial airlines disrupt airport operations and trigger immediate emergency protocols worldwide. Similar security incidents have affected flights in recent days, including an Austrian Airlines flight forced to reroute to Bulgaria on Sunday.
