Representative image · PexelsSkoda has rolled out its first major update for the Slavia sedan since its launch in 2022, bringing sharper styling, new cabin equipment, and an important mechanical change. The updated car features a new butterfly grille with segmented chrome, fresh LED headlamps and DRLs, a reworked front bumper, and a new design for the 16-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the sedan gets sequential turn indicators and a new trim piece connecting the tail lights with prominent Skoda lettering.
Interior and Features
Inside, the cabin features upgraded displays, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen that replaces the old 10-inch unit and a digital driver display that grows from 8 inches to 10.25 inches. A major cabin highlight is the segment-first rear seat massaging function, alongside a new 360-degree camera and an improved AC compressor with a variable geometry unit. The boot space remains at 521 litres.
Performance
Under the hood, the Slavia keeps its two direct-injection turbo petrol engines. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine produces 115hp and 178Nm, while the larger 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit makes 150hp and 250Nm. While the 1.5-litre engine uses a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, the 1.0-litre engine drops its old 6-speed unit for a new Aisin-sourced 8-speed torque converter automatic, which improves low-speed drivability and reduces jerks from a standstill.
Context
Mid-lifecycle facelifts are common in the automobile industry to help carmakers keep existing models fresh and competitive against newer rivals. In this case, Skoda aims to keep the Slavia relevant against competitors like the Hyundai Verna and Honda City by adding popular modern tech and mechanical refinements.
