Bharatiya Janata Party leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has praised newly appointed Uttar Pradesh Congress president Aradhana Mishra Mona, calling her a very gentle person. In an interview with NDTV, Singh also praised her father and Congress MP Pramod Tiwari, stating that he is a leader rooted firmly in the ground with nine terms as an MLA. Singh added that while he personally likes Mishra, the upcoming election will be fought on Rahul Gandhi's issues rather than Mishra's. The Congress party appointed Aradhana Mishra Mona as its new Uttar Pradesh state president on Friday, just months ahead of the assembly elections, alongside naming Lok Sabha member Imran Masood as the working president. These appointments were announced through a release by Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal and take effect immediately. Through these changes, the party aims to rebuild its traditional social coalition by appointing a Brahmin leader as president and a Muslim leader as working president, while Rajendra Pal Gautam, who belongs to the Dalit community, serves as the state in-charge. Decades ago, these three communities formed the core voter base for the party in the state before the rise of Mandal politics and the BJP scattered this support. Additional organizational changes include appointing Devendra Nishad and Alok Prasad as senior vice presidents and Virendra Chaudhary as the Congress Legislature Party leader in Uttar Pradesh.

Context

Political leaders in Uttar Pradesh frequently comment on rival party appointments as state-level leadership changes often signal shifting electoral strategies ahead of major polls. Rebuilding traditional voter bases remains a core challenge for opposition parties seeking to regain lost ground in the state's complex political landscape.
