Fujifilm has launched the Instax Mini 13 instant camera in India, priced at Rs 8,499. The new device retains the familiar simplicity of earlier models while introducing a few updates, including a mechanical self-timer.

Design And Features

The camera features a rounded body and weighs around 306 grams. It is available in five colours: Dreamy Purple, Frost Blue, Candy Pink, Lagoon Green, and Clay White. Controls remain simple with a lens barrel at the front, a central shutter button, a selfie mirror, and a built-in flash. The key addition is a mechanical self-timer around the shutter button, offering a two-second or ten-second countdown indicated by an orange LED. The device operates on two AA batteries and uses ISO 800 Instax Mini film.

Performance And Usage

Shooting is fully automatic with shutter speeds ranging from 1/2 to 1/250 of a second, and a Close-Up mode with parallax correction for nearby subjects. Prints emerge from the front and take about 90 seconds to develop. The camera lacks a tripod mount at the bottom and has a fixed flash that fires on every shot, which can sometimes lead to overexposure in bright sunlight.

Context

Instant cameras remain popular as a fun, offline alternative to digital photography, focusing on physical prints rather than technical perfection. Devices in this category are typically designed for casual social gatherings and travel rather than professional use.
