Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu urged five lakh IIT graduates to unite for nation-building during the valedictory session of the two-day PanIIT summit on Saturday. The state government and PanIIT signed multiple agreements, which include the creation of a PanIIT Amaravati Council and a Rs 500-crore PanIIT Amaravati Deep Tech Venture Fund based in the greenfield capital city.

Key Deals

The pacts involve setting up 10 industry chairs in state universities, a 100-mentor startup network, technology transfer from IITs, and a deep tech policy package. Naidu also announced the Amaravati PanIIT Declaration and stated that the government will match funding to local startups if venture capitalists bring capital and mentors. An IIT Research Park will be built in Amaravati, with the premier institutes mentoring state varsities and setting up Centres of Excellence in every university.

Tech Initiatives

Naidu launched five Q-Shiva quantum computers made in Amaravati alongside the Shrusti processor and a children's book on quantum computing. He stated that the first quantum computer will start working in the capital city on February 3, 2027, and expressed a vision to turn Amaravati into a Quantum Valley. The state also plans to teach AI and entrepreneurship skills from class 6 onwards and introduce a student exchange programme. Other industrial projects include a space city, drone city, defence corridor, aerospace corridor, and plans for semiconductors in Tirupati.

Context

PanIIT connects a large global network of graduates from the Indian Institutes of Technology, which are premier public engineering schools in the country. State governments frequently partner with such alumni networks and technical institutions to drive local startup ecosystems, attract investments, and accelerate high-tech manufacturing and educational reform.
