Prime Minister Narendra Modi met all 48 BJP MLAs from Haryana at his New Delhi residence on Saturday, where they shared a meal of organic khichri and discussed ways to improve governance and public outreach. ## Key Focus Areas ## State BJP president Dr Archana Gupta said the Prime Minister's main focus during the interaction was natural and cooperative farming. Modi warned that excessive use of DAP and urea fertilisers and pesticides makes food harmful, and urged lawmakers to promote organic methods to boost farmer incomes and health. He also advocated for cooperative farming through farmer producer organisations to cut input costs and save land lost to field boundaries. Lawmakers were further advised to encourage farmers to install solar units under the PM-KUSUM Yojana and promote rooftop solar systems through the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. ## Social Service ## Haryana minister Vipul Goel noted that the Prime Minister advised legislators to look beyond routine governance tasks like laying roads and sewers, and to actively engage in social service. Gurugram MLA Mukesh Sharma pointed out that with two years of the current term behind them and three remaining before the 2029 assembly polls, the meeting aimed to guide leaders in solving public problems. During the gathering, Modi also recalled his long association with Haryana's three prominent leaders known as the 'Lals'—Bhajan Lal, Devi Lal, and Bansi Lal. ## Context ## Such meetings between central party leadership and state legislators are a common part of political alignment strategies, particularly at the midpoint of an electoral term. These discussions help set legislative priorities and align local grassroots outreach with national governance programs like renewable energy and sustainable agriculture.
