Tamil star Suriya's investigative drama Scene is hitting theatres this Deepavali weekend under the direction of Malayalam filmmaker Jithu Madhavan.

Cast and Crew

The film marks a major comeback for actor Nazriya Nazim, returning to Tamil cinema 12 years after her last appearance in the industry. Meanwhile, Mollywood actor Naslen makes his Tamil cinema debut in the movie, shifting away from his usual image to play a serial killer in one of his first negative roles. Content creator Rajpriyan of 'Lungiboys' also plays a pivotal role, while YouTuber Dravid Selvam has penned the dialogues for the project. On the technical side, composer Sushin Shyam makes his Tamil debut, joining cinematographer Vineeth Augustian, production designer Ashwini Kale, editor Ajmal Sabu, and stunt choreographer Chethan D'Souza. Suriya and Jyotika are producing the movie under their Zhagaram Studios and 2D Entertainment banners.

Box Office Expectations

Scene aims to complete a hat-trick of box office hits for Suriya in 2026, following the success of his earlier films Karuppu and Vishwanath & Sons. This release also features Suriya playing a police officer. Director Jithu Madhavan brings his past success with Malayalam films Romancham and Aavesham to this project, which arrives as a quirky investigative drama.

Showtimes

Theatrical screenings get a boost as the Tamil Nadu government announced that theatres across the state can run up to six shows a day, spanning from 6 a.m. to 2.30 a.m. the following day, for one week from release. This policy change brings back early morning shows for cinema fans.

Context

Deepavali remains one of the most lucrative festive release windows for the South Indian film industry, frequently drawing massive crowds and driving high box office earnings. Tamil Nadu's recent adjustment to daily show limits gives major holiday releases extra room to accommodate high ticket demand.
