Telangana Chief Minister orders student feedback on school uniforms

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to collect feedback from students about the uniforms distributed to them and to focus on colours and designs for future orders. He reviewed the distribution of uniforms and student kits for government hostels, residential schools, and government schools during a meeting held on Wednesday. Mr. Revanth Reddy noted that this year's uniforms have better quality and more attractive colours than before, but stressed that student preferences should shape future choices. Officials reported that distribution of uniforms and essential items such as ties, belts, identity cards, shoes, socks, plates, glasses, bowls, carpets, and school bags is almost complete, with a few institutions reaching about 95% completion. The Chief Minister instructed authorities to finish the remaining distribution as soon as possible.

Future Planning

To streamline the process, the Chief Minister ordered officials to create a Standard Operating Procedure for procuring and distributing student supplies for the next academic year. This procedure must cover every stage from final list preparation and tendering to procurement, supply, and distribution with strict deadlines. Mr. Revanth Reddy also told officials to plan ahead so that all uniforms and student kits reach students on the very first day of the new academic year.

Context

Government welfare hostels and residential schools in India regularly distribute free uniforms and essential kits to support students from lower-income and backward communities. Establishing a clear Standard Operating Procedure helps prevent usual administrative delays in government procurement and ensures timely delivery before classes resume.
