Inter-Ministerial Central Teams visited several drought-affected villages across Karnataka on Sunday to assess crop damage for the second consecutive day.
Village Visits
The official teams travelled to Yadgir, Raichur, Gerdada and Arakere villages in Saligrama taluk of Mysuru district, alongside locations in Hassan and Davanagere districts. During these field visits, members spoke directly with local farmers and government officials to evaluate ground realities.
Relief Claims
Karnataka has submitted two memorandums to the Centre seeking financial assistance. State authorities have estimated total losses at roughly 46,000 crore rupees and requested nearly 7,500 crore rupees in relief aid under official Central guidelines.
Context
Central teams are deployed by the Union government to verify disaster impact on the ground when states report severe crop failures due to failed monsoons. Their detailed assessment reports form the basis for financial aid disbursements from the National Disaster Response Fund to help affected farming communities recover.
