Representative image · PexelsThe affordable Chetak C2501 electric scooter, priced at Rs 1.05 lakh ex-showroom Mumbai before subsidies, delivers a total real-world range of 86.5km on a single charge when tested in Sport mode.
Performance Modes
The vehicle comes with two riding modes called Eco and Sport, which focus on getting more distance rather than raw speed. Eco mode reaches up to an indicated 45kph, while Sport mode reaches an indicated 60kph, and riders can switch between them on the go using the D button.
Range Test
Testing on the streets of South Mumbai in Sport mode with a fully charged battery started with an initial range reading of 112km. The scooter covered 19km at 80 percent battery, 36.1km at 60 percent, 52.1km at 40 percent, 69km at 20 percent, and 76.5km at 10 percent. When the battery dropped to 10 percent, the scooter automatically switched to Eco mode, and at 5 percent it entered a limp mode shown by a tortoise symbol on the dash that limits speed to 35kph. Once the display meters hit zero, the scooter ran for another 2.5km before it was parked, giving an overall efficiency of 34.6km/kWh.
Charging
A 750W off-board charger takes 3 hours and 18 minutes to top up a flat battery from 0 to 100 percent.
Context
Real-world range tests for electric two-wheelers often differ from official claims because city traffic conditions, riding modes, and constant braking affect battery drain. Knowing the exact distance a scooter covers until the battery fully dies helps buyers plan daily city commutes without running out of power.
