Hyundai has revealed the fifth-generation Tucson in New York City with major design updates, new off-road variants, and advanced cabin technology.
Variants and Engine Options
The new SUV lineup includes an off-road focused XRT Pro variant equipped with all-terrain tyres, front recovery hooks, improved approach angles, and 210 mm of ground clearance, which is 30 mm higher than the standard model. Standard models use either a 1.6-litre turbo petrol or a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine, generating power between 150 and 193 PS and torque ranging from 191 to 264 Nm. Transmission options feature 6-speed manual, 7-speed dual-clutch, 8-speed automatic, and 6-speed automatic gearboxes, alongside both two-wheel and four-wheel drive configurations. A sport-inspired N-Line model is also planned.
Design and Dimensions
Built on the 'Art of Steel' design language, the long wheelbase version measures 4,700 mm long, 1,905 mm wide, and 1,685 mm tall, marking an increase of 60 mm in length, 40 mm in width, and 20 mm in height over the older version. Exterior updates include H-style front and rear lights, angular panels, squared wheel arches, and aero-optimized alloy wheels. Four new paint shades are available, including Ranger Green Pearl and Red Rock Orange Pearl in both gloss and matte finishes.
Smart Features
Inside, the vehicle features the Pleos Connect infotainment system running on Android Automotive OS, offered with a 17-inch or 12.9-inch main touchscreen and a 9.9-inch slim display. The cabin also includes Gleo AI for voice commands, dual 15W wireless chargers, three-zone air conditioning, over-the-air software updates, and a Level 2+ driver assistance safety suite.
Context
Vehicle manufacturers frequently update popular global models every few years to incorporate modern software platforms and electrification trends. The addition of dedicated off-road trims reflects the growing demand for rugged styling and outdoor capability in midsize utility vehicles.
