Representative image · PexelsUPDATE - follow-up to NEET PG answer keys out, but candidates call it 'eyewash'; here is why: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences has released the answer keys and scorecards for NEET PG 2026, which took place on August 30 and September 5.
Candidate Concerns
Soon after the release, aspirants labeled the disclosure as an eyewash on social media because the document only displays section-wise question IDs, response status, correct answer key IDs, candidate responses, and scores. A 30-year-old aspirant from Jaipur and former junior resident at Guru Nanak Eye Centre in New Delhi stated that the shuffled sequence of questions prevents students from recalling or matching question IDs to the actual questions they attempted.
Lack of Transparency
Unlike other national tests such as CUET, NEET UG, and JEE, the NBEMS notices from September 24 and October 1 do not provide an objection window or a procedure to challenge the answers. The board stated that faculty members reviewed all questions after the exam and found no technical errors. Dr Dhruv Chauhan, national spokesperson of the IMA Junior Doctors' Network and founder of the Legal Cell for All India Doctors, has filed a public interest litigation in the Supreme Court demanding full question papers, correct answers, and a time-bound objection window.
Context
Public entrance examinations typically provide full question papers and open challenge windows so that candidates can independently check their evaluations. When exam authorities share only internal identification numbers instead of actual questions and options, it restricts the ability of students to verify their results.

What Happened
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences released answer keys for NEET PG 2026 containing only question IDs and responses without the actual text of the questions.
Why It Matters
Without seeing the exact questions alongside the correct options, medical aspirants cannot verify their scores or check for potential evaluation errors, rendering the released keys ineffective for independent review.
What Happens Next
The Supreme Court will review the public interest litigation filed by Dr Dhruv Chauhan, which seeks full disclosure of question papers and an official objection window before counselling commences.
