GeneralKerala Government Launches Brand Wayanad to Promote Global Tourism and Local Culture

Kerala is launching a new project called 'Brand Wayanad' as part of its hundred-day action plan to turn state tourist spots into top global brands. The launch event is set for October six and seven. Tourism Minister P.C. Vishnunadh will reveal the project at Vythiri Village Resort, with Agriculture Minister T. Siddique presiding over the function.

Project Goals

The initiative aims to show Wayanad to the world not just as a place for travel, but as a special region with its own environment, daily life, and traditions. It will promote responsible travel, update homestays, and build Wayanad up as a secure and green destination for visitors everywhere.

Key Features

Local goods like coffee, spices, old types of rice, and honey will tie in with travel experiences alongside local food, farm life, tribal traditions, and village stays. The GI-tagged Wayanad Robusta Coffee will get a push worldwide through a farm-to-cup plan. Officials will expand the En Ooru heritage village to protect local tribal life. A new Tribal University and a Heritage Knowledge Centre will also be built at a cost of fifty crore rupees. The plan includes the Wayanad CSR Exchange through the Bhoomi portal to bring in corporate help, plus an e-waste clean-up drive for nature protection. Through the Experience Wayanad idea, the project hopes to open up better work chances in travel for local youth, women, and tribal groups using trained local guides and better marketing for local goods.

Launch Events

The two-day launch features the main vision announcement, project openings, and cultural shows on day one. Guests can take part in a guided tour of the Thirunelli Circuit, visit Chekadi Farm, and enjoy a coffee tasting. Cultural shows will run at En Ooru starting at six in the evening. The En Ooru Live Experience Zone will stay open to the public on both days from ten in the morning to five in the evening with tribal food festivals, craft shows, and community displays.

Context
