Volkswagen India has released the first official teaser for the upcoming Virtus facelift, giving a first look at the sedan's exterior design. The teaser shows the updated model without camouflage, highlighting several changes at the front of the vehicle. The car keeps its slim headlamp layout with LED daytime running lights, and a narrow upper grille links the headlamps with a central Volkswagen emblem and a red GT badge.

Design Changes

Below the grille, the bumper features a wide lower intake with geometric detailing and horizontal inserts in the outer sections, while separate front fog lamps are removed. The teaser confirms the car skips the popular trend of a connected LED light strip across the front. The exterior shown features a blue paint finish, dark alloy wheels, and black mirror housings. The side profile keeps the familiar shoulder line, conventional door handles, and sloping roofline, while an overhead shot shows a single-pane sunroof and shark-fin antenna. At the rear, the Virtus gets split tail lamps with red LED elements, a dark horizontal section linking the sides, a boot-mounted lip spoiler, and a dark lower insert on the bumper with parking sensors.

Interior And Engine

Volkswagen has not shown the cabin in the teaser, but expected upgrades include refreshed upholstery, interior trim, a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, updated software for the 10.1-inch touchscreen, and a 360-degree camera. The facelift is expected to keep the 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engines, which make 115 PS and 178 Nm for the smaller unit, and 150 PS and 150 Nm? Wait, 150 PS and 250 Nm for the larger unit. A key reported mechanical update is a new eight-speed torque-converter automatic for the 1.0 TSI to replace the six-speed automatic, while the seven-speed DSG is expected to stay with the 1.5 TSI.

Context

Automakers often release official teasers ahead of a new vehicle launch to build excitement among buyers and give hints about styling changes. Facelifts help car companies keep their existing models fresh and competitive in a busy market without building an entirely new vehicle from scratch.
