TNCC chief says opposition parties aiming to topple TVK government

TNCC president B. Manickam Tagore said on Thursday that opposition parties are trying to unseat the TVK‑led government by courting its MLAs. He echoed Minister C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar's claim that both the DMK and AIADMK are reaching out to TVK legislators with help from the BJP. Tagore told reporters that senior leaders of the DMK, AIADMK and BJP have repeatedly questioned the stability of the administration. He added that the current government was formed on a clean platform, that ministers were chosen for integrity and that the chief minister has run a transparent administration for the past four months. Tagore accused the opposition of sowing doubt to hinder the state's development agenda. He also responded to Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh's remarks about foreign funding for Delhi protests, saying Singh should lodge a police complaint if he has proof and that unfounded allegations must end. Tagore warned that the BJP is spreading false information to distract from accusations of electoral irregularities. ## Context The tussle reflects the fierce competition among Tamil Nadu's major parties after the recent change of power, with each side seeking to protect its political foothold.
