Nottingham Forest manager Oliver Glasner says his struggling team cannot survive on loose freedom alone and must find a better mix of discipline and trust.

The Current Struggles

The team sits 19th in the Premier League table and has not scored or won at home in the top flight so far. Last weekend's two-goal loss away at Brentford marked their sixth defeat in ten matches across all competitions this season, as well as their fourth loss in five games. Glasner stated that his two core values of trust and respect are non-negotiable. He compared too much freedom to a Woodstock festival where everyone does as they please, while noting that strict military-style discipline drives high performance.

Club Support

Despite the poor run of form, the 52-year-old manager is not facing immediate pressure from the club's leaders. Following a turbulent last season that saw four different managers, the club wants stability. Glasner remains in regular touch with owner Evangelos Marinakis's son Miltiadis, chief football officer George Syrianos, technical director Pedro Ferreira, and chief executive officer Theodore Giannikos. He admitted that he blames himself for the recent failures because he wants to meet the expectations of the fans, players, and owners.

Context

Football clubs often experience tension when a new manager arrives and tightens standards after a period of poor results or frequent managerial changes. Finding the right balance between player morale and strict tactical discipline is a common challenge for coaches in top-flight leagues like the Premier League.
