India wants to become the top global hub for using artificial intelligence across different business sectors. Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared this goal during the release of the Semicon 2.0 Web Application Portal in New Delhi on November 6.

Technology Goals

Vaishnaw pointed out that the worldwide artificial intelligence sector is going through fast changes and major shifts right now. India aims to use these advanced models inside companies to improve fields like farming, medical care, and schooling. At the same time, work on building a home-grown graphics processing unit chip is moving toward final approval.

Semiconductor Plans

The newly launched portal for semiconductor projects is built to take in only fully completed paperwork. This rule ensures that casual or unserious participants cannot enter the program. Half of the approved production units belong to small and medium businesses. Meanwhile, the country is expanding its work on building essential hardware parts like battery cells, copper foils, and circuit board materials.

Context

Semiconductors and artificial intelligence chips form the basic hardware and computing power needed to run modern digital tools and smart software. Countries around the world are pushing to build local manufacturing plants to secure their supply chains and reduce dependence on foreign technology makers.
