Jaguar Unveils Bold Type 01 Electric GT With 1030 Horsepower

Jaguar has revealed its new Type 01 electric GT, marking a radical shift away from traditional design toward exuberant modernism as the brand attempts a complete commercial rebirth.

Design And Aero

Measuring 1,400mm tall with a 3.2-metre wheelbase, the Type 01 features a bold front-end with a grille-simulating strikethrough element, active cooling shutters, and the slimmest headlights ever fitted to a Jaguar. Despite its upright nose, the car achieves a 0.23 drag coefficient and rides on massive 23-inch wheels. The rear abandons the traditional windscreen for a clean monolithic panel paired with a camera-fed digital rear-view mirror, alongside a deployable rear spoiler and 450 litres of boot space.

Performance And Battery

A three-motor setup drives the Type 01, producing a combined 1,030 horsepower and 1,365Nm of torque. Weighing approximately 2.7 tonnes, the GT accelerates from 0 to 100kph in 3.2 seconds and achieves a 100kph to 180kph time of 4.0 seconds. The vehicle uses an 850-volt architecture with a 120kWh split-module battery pack, delivering a WLTP range of up to 720km. A 350kW DC charger can add 321km of range in 13 minutes, while 10 to 80 percent charging takes roughly 22 minutes.

Pricing And Availability

International deliveries are scheduled to begin by mid-2027 with starting prices around £120,000, while the Indian market will follow a few months later with prices expected near the Rs 2 crore mark.

Context

The Type 01 breaks a production hiatus that began with the retirement of the F-Pace SUV and repositions Jaguar as an ultra-luxury electric brand competing well above its previous mainstream lineup.
