Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai secured a ₹350 crore investment proposal for an agro‑food processing hub and signed a skill‑development MoU with Singapore’s ITE Education Services during his four‑day Singapore visit. The MoU, signed in Sai’s presence, aims to boost technical and vocational training and was followed by a tour of an ITE college. The fresh proposal pushes the total foreign direct investment (FDI) offers received by Chhattisgarh on the trip to ₹43,600 crore. Sai attended the Singapore‑India Network for Growth (SING) Forum 2026 from October 3‑6, marking the state’s first participation after a Ministry of External Affairs nomination. Singapore‑based Valency International Pte Ltd, which operates in 22 countries, plans to set up an integrated agro and food processing and export hub that will handle cashew, sesame, pulses and groundnut. In Singapore, companies such as Cisco, BYD and Singapore Airlines collaborate with ITE colleges on curriculum, training and equipment; Chhattisgarh hopes to emulate this model. Sai also met Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan to discuss deeper ties in investment, skill development, urban planning and technology. At a CEO roundtable he engaged representatives from more than 15 global firms, including TCS, SMBC, Tolaram Group, Agrocorp, Indian Ocean Group and Blue Aqua, outlining the state’s investor‑friendly policies and opportunities in technology, banking, agribusiness, aquaculture and food. Further talks with the Global Finance & Technology Network’s leaders covered AI and digital‑finance training for Chhattisgarh youth, startup connections and the creation of technology labs. Sai’s Singapore itinerary ended on Tuesday and he will return to Raipur on October 7.
Context
Chhattisgarh is using Singapore’s proven skill‑development model to upgrade its own workforce, while the large foreign‑investment proposals aim to diversify the state’s economy beyond traditional sectors.
