Asset Reconstruction Company shares jumped 10% to hit their upper circuit and an all-time high of ₹160.25 on the BSE during Wednesday trade. The stock opened at ₹149, up from its previous close of ₹145.70, while the broader Sensex index fell by 0.75% during the same session. This marks the third straight day of gains for the stock.
Financial Results
The sharp rise follows strong financial results announced in an exchange filing. The company reported a consolidated net profit of ₹89.15 crore for the June quarter, marking a 54.2% jump compared to the same period last year. Total revenue from operations also grew by 11.5% from a year ago to reach ₹234.74 crore. Additionally, the firm's assets under management stood at nearly ₹20,150 crore for the previous financial year.
Market Debut
The company originally debuted on the stock exchanges on 17 September. At the current record price, the stock is trading 15% higher than its initial public offering price of ₹139, recovering from an all-time low of ₹124.10 recorded shortly after its market listing.
Context
Asset reconstruction companies buy bad loans from banks to help clean up their balance sheets. When these firms recover money from defaulted borrowers, their earnings and stock prices often see a positive impact. Strong quarterly financial results generally attract more investor interest, especially during weak market phases.
