Lupin has secured approval from the Drug Controller General of India and introduced Formoflo‑G, a metered‑dose inhaler that delivers three medicines in a single fixed dose for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The device combines glycopyrronium bromide, formoterol fumarate and fluticasone propionate, targeting moderate to severe COPD cases. It is supplied as a twice‑daily, single‑strength formulation, simplifying treatment for patients who previously needed separate inhalers. Rajeev Sibal, President of India Region Formulations at Lupin, described the inhaler as a significant addition to the company's respiratory lineup, bringing together three proven therapies in one device. Managing Director Nilesh Gupta highlighted that respiratory ailments affect millions across the country and stressed the need for accessible, effective options, noting that Formoflo‑G reflects the firm’s focus on unmet patient needs. The launch expands Lupin’s portfolio in the respiratory segment, positioning the company to compete in a market where combination inhalers are increasingly sought after.
Context
Combination inhalers reduce the number of devices a patient must handle, improving adherence. COPD remains a leading cause of disability in India, and fixed‑dose combos aim to deliver consistent dosing while easing the daily routine for users.
